Dr Susan Wilson is a graduate of NUI Galway. She completed her training in 2003, undertook a two-year medical training programme in UCHG. This was followed by a research year in the speciality of Medicine for the elderly. Susan completed the Western Training Programme in General Practice in 2013. Her last year of the training programme was spent at Townley Medical Practice, and she has remained here happily ever since! Her specialist interests include Paediatrics and all aspects of women’s health, including preconceptual care, pregnancy, and menopause. She has a certificate in family planning and LARC (longacting reversible contraception) and is competent in the insertion and removal of intrauterine contraceptive and implants. Since 2017, she has been part of the doctor volunteer network with the Mayo Irish Community Rapid Response (ICCR). Working alongside frontline emergency services, the Mayo ICCR doctors response to serious potentially life-threatening emergencies within their communities.
